Fraudulent Binary Options Trading, have you been targeted?

As the festive season approaches many people fall prey to the persuasive powers of the binary option fraudsters.  The tempting offer of 60-80% return on a “no risk” investment seems like a dream come true when money is exiting your bank account at speed.

The Daily Mail reports this morning the story of Deanne Forrest, a single mother, who was targeted by the hard sell salesmen of Banc De Binary, she was simply trying to find a way to fund her sons’ university fees and risked her savings in what she was told were hazard free trades.  Her account manager used every trick in the book, including flattery and flirting to part Ms. Forrest from her modest savings.  She now feels naive and foolish for trusting a complete stranger with her hard earned money but she shouldn’t feel too bad as this is a familiar story to the lawyers at Giambrone who are very accustomed to the techniques the unscrupulous companies employ.

However all is not always lost, Giambrone has successfully assisted over 3,000 clients who were similarly scammed and have recovered nearly £1.5 million on their behalf.   “The fraudsters depend on a hit and run technique before the target has had time to think about it or discuss it with friends or relatives” commented Joanna Bailey, who deals with financial fraud litigation in the London office “the pressure to invest more and more money is intense, the salesmen are relentless, especially when money starts to disappear and the target is told the only way to recover the money is to continue to trade”.

The lawyers at Giambrone have developed a number of strategies, depending on where the offending companies are based, which have proved to be extremely effective in forcing the rogue brokers and companies to return our clients’ funds. The regulators in the various countries have a role to play but global parity does not exist and whilst some countries have banned binary option trading others have not, nor do they have a regulatory body that can act in the face of this type of scam, the UK being one of them.  The UK’s financial regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), has no powers over binary options companies as the practice is considered to be gambling; the Gambling Commission can only act if the rogue company has servers and premises in the UK.

Giambrone continues to recover our clients’ misappropriated funds by all available means whilst lobbying the regulatory authorities to take action to prevent the problem in the first place.
