Elze Obrikyte is a Senior Associate at the Palermo Office.

Elze works within the Immigration Department and has expertise in Italian immigration matters and extensive knowledge of European and International Law.

More specifically, she assists clients in reference to Italian citizenship (Italian citizenship by descent, by marriage or by residency) and immigration matters (such as family joining, residency card for EEA family member, work visa, student visa, Eu Blue Card, etc.).

Prior to joining Giambrone in 2012, Elze worked in the 'United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees' office in Lithuania as a legal consultant.

Elze graduated from the University of Vilnius (Lithuania), Faculty of Law in International and European Law in 2010 (master degree). In 2009 she visited the University of Palermo as an Erasmus student.

After graduation, she continued her studies at the University of Palermo and gained a master's degree in law in Italy in 2014. During her studies, Elze was an active member of ELSA (European Law Students Association).

Elze has handled several cases, the most relevant of which are:

  • Cancellation from SIS through the Swiss authorities obtained on behalf of a US citizen.
  • A special authorization to enter Italy obtained on behalf of a citizen of Egypt.
  • Italian citizenship by marriage obtained by a citizen of India, residing in the UK.
  • Italian citizenship by descent (assistance in collecting the necessary documentation; submitting formal requests according to the Italian Civil Code, art. 452, in order to replace the missing documentation).
  • A long term visa and residency permit for elective residency obtained on behalf of a US citizen.
  • Successfully obtaining Italian citizenship for clients by suing the Italian government under the unconstitutional laws in citizenship matters (1948 rule).
  • Italian citizenship by descent (assistance in collecting the necessary documentation; submitting formal requests according to Italian Civil Code, art. 452, in order to replace the missing documentation).
  • Successfully obtaining Italian citizenship by descent, where four generations were involved
  • Successfully assisting clients with the Italian citizenship re-acquisition
  • Successfully obtaining a special authorization and consequently the Italian citizenship according to a special law nr. 379/2000
  • Successfully assisting foreign clients of Italian origin whose Birth Certificates were registered in Italy to apply for the Italian passport directly
  • Registration of minors as Italian citizens
  • Italian citizenship by marriage obtained by a citizen of India, residing in the UK.
  • Successfully obtaining the Italian elective residency visa after it was rejected at first
  • Successfully obtaining the Schengen visa for an Indian citizen, who previously violated the Italian immigration laws
  • Cancellation from SIS through the Swiss authorities obtained on behalf of a US citizen.
  • A special authorization to enter Italy obtained on behalf of a citizen of Egypt.
  • Assistance with the family joining, arranging for a marriage and marriage transcription at first
  • Assistance with the Italian long term national visa for the US pensioners
  • Surname change of a minor
