Tourists are making the mistake of believing that the laws in the country that they are visiting are the same as those in England and Wales and are falling foul of laws are not present in England or if there is the same offence, it carries much harsher penalties overseas. For example, arguing with the police in Spain is an offence for which you can be arrested and charged.
Before travelling abroad it would be good practise to ensure that commonplace behaviour in the UK, such as consuming alcohol in the street, which is not illegal, expect in areas that are governed by Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs), does not take place or there is the risk of arrest.
