Giorgio Ruggieri

Giorgio Ruggieri is a Senior Associate at the Gran Canaria office of Giambrone Law. He holds a Law Degree from the University of Pisa (UNIPI) and from the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), a Master’s Degree in Legal Mediation from the University of Florence (UNIFI), and a Master’s Degree for Access to the Legal Profession from the International University of La Rioja (UNIR).

He was a member of the Bar Association of Florence from 2009 to 2022 and has been a member of the Bar Association of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria since 2022. He has more than fifteen years of professional experience, gained across two law firms in Florence, an international firm based in Gran Canaria, and, since 2023, Giambrone Law.

His practice covers both domestic Spanish matters and Italian–Spanish cross-border disputes, with a particular focus on cases with an Andorran connection.

He is a key reference for the firm’s Italian Desk in the Canary Islands, acting as a privileged interface between the Italian and Spanish legal systems in the management of international client mandates.

His native language is Italian; he is also fully fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of English.

Areas of expertise

• Non-contractual civil liability and state liability: with a particular focus on medical negligence claims (lex artis ad hoc), including proceedings against both public and private healthcare entities, in administrative proceedings, state liability claims, and before the courts.
• Civil and commercial litigation: representation and defence in civil proceedings before Spanish courts, with experience in summary proceedings, payment order procedures and enforcement of judgments; drafting settlement agreements and managing withdrawals.
• Insurance law and road traffic accidents: advisory services and claims handling in cross-border road traffic accidents, determination of competent insurers and assessment of damages.
• Criminal and procedural criminal law: legal defence in criminal proceedings in Spain, with knowledge of both the Italian criminal system and international judicial cooperation.
• Debt recovery (recupero crediti): management of debt collection claims both out of court and in court in Spain, with a specific focus on Italian creditors with debtors based in Spanish territory.
• Administrative law litigation: drafting of appeals and claims before Spanish public authorities.
• Powers of attorney and cross-border documentation: drafting of representation powers and bilingual legal documents (Spanish/Italian) for use in both jurisdictions.
• Legal mediation: specialised training and expertise in alternative dispute resolution.
