The Supreme Court concludes that Proroguing Parliament was Unlawful

As the Brexit debacle continues with no visible progress, the Supreme Court ruling on the unprecedented situation as to whether the proroguing of parliament by the Prime Minister is legal matter has been announced.

The unanimous decision by the 11 Justices of the Supreme Court is that the proroguing of parliament was unlawful.   Lady Hale, the president of the Supreme Court, who delivered the judgment, said the Speaker and the Lord Speaker must now act on the decision of the Supreme Court. The Leader of the Commons has stated that the House must convene without delay.

The Supreme Court's decision cannot be appealed.
