The Employment Rights Bill Unfair Dismissal

Under the Bill unfair dismissal will be a day one right.  However, the Bill will introduce a new concept “initial employment period”.  This proposal means that the protection of unfair dismissal is modified during a probation period.  How long the “initial period employment period” or probation period may be has not, as yet, been clarified.

The changes that The Employment Rights Bill will introduce will not come into effect until 2026.  Employers therefore have the opportunity to learn what the new obligations employers will have to adhere to and vary their working practices to comply with the Bill and therefore avoid any contraventions when the Bill is enacted.
